It took me a long time to make a decision - I spent weeks poring over Consumer Reports, the reviews on Amazon, reviews elsewhere. I knew I wanted a good vacuum, but I really didn't want to spend quite so much money. Having spent it - I don't regret it at all. This vacuum is awesome.

Ten days in. Last week, my wife on the other end of the phone said "I don't like it, it's too hard to push on the carpet" (her first use). "What!" I thought, four figures lighter in my wallet and she doesn't like it. I got home after work and the machine was close by in the basement. I picked up the handle with the carpet head and tried it. The head glided over the carpet with no resistance, "it feels ok I said". "You have to turn it on", she said. I replied something like "ok, you mean because you now have a vacuum cleaner that actually sucks hard enough to give some resistance, you don't like it!" She must have though about this because lately she has commented on how quiet it is and how it does the furniture so well, she isn't going to give it up now. Is it possible to give an unbiased view after spending over $1000 on a vacuum cleaner. Let's just say here's my 2 cents. - the canister is a bit heavier than I thought but no different from the old Kenmore canister. - the machine is quiet for a vacuum cleaner but that does not mean it's quiet, i.e. some great progress has been made with appliances such as dishwashers (almost silent) but I won't hold my breathe for vacuum cleaners or hair dryers. - the components look and feel good quality and they work well together. - I cannot get the hang of hooking the brush and handle to the canister to stand upright when not in use. The mechanism does not work well, it takes several tries…

I love this vacuum cleaner purchased through Amazon. It has decreased the dust in my house tremendously. It is quiet and very efficient. I love the retractable cord but it could be longer. Guess you can't have both. This like all other Amazon purchases except for one for Jan Marini products was shipped in a timely manner.

I did lots of research before deciding on purchasing the Miele. I chose this model because it has all the features I needed from the higher priced models and the only difference I can see is that it has a dial control for the suction instead of an "automatic" suction control feature. I have mostly hardwood and tile flooring with some berber carpet and a few oriental carpets. I have the smaller 10 1/2 powerhead and that works really well for maneuvering around hard to reach places and gets into corners beautifully. It picks up pet hair like a dream (I have 3 Weimaraners and Persian cat). I love the parquet floor tool too - I can finally say goodbye to my swiffer. I have vacuumed my entire house nearly everyday since I purchased it, mostly because it just makes the job so much easier than my old Oreck upright. My husband thinks I need a job as a Miele spokesperson.

I absolutely love this vacuum cleaner! I have 3 cats in a 2-story townhouse with lots of velvet furniture, so I shopped around quite a bit before settling on this vacuum. It's very quiet and really easy to glide/turn. It has a lot of power, and I've had it now for about 4 months or so without any change in suction. I also really like the attachments, which I use to vacuum off the furniture, vacuum the stairs, etc. It's quite pricey, but absolutely worth it.

I am absolutely shocked much better my allergies are. I was going to go with the $600 model, but several of my friends ended up upgrading to the S236 power head after the purchase, which brought it to $900. It's the same price at the store and they threw in a cleaning at one year. The bags are expensive, but I had a bagless and it's difficult to clean. Everything is so easy on this vaccum and it is powerful.

I guess my caption about sums it up. Rather than give their engineers a price point to design to, Miele designs and then sets the price. This is my 3rd Miele appliance, and they all just work. Not lots of bells, whistles, colored brushes and see through canisters - just a unit that works the way it should and does it with finesse. For what it is worth, despite regular (daily) vacuuming with a Hoover and a Sebo, when we tried the Miele for the first time, everyone in the room looked up when they heard the sand being sucked up by the Bolero. We couldn't believe it. It was like having a Kirby salesman demonstrating how dirty your old vacuum left the floor - (except we knew the dirt didn't fall out of anyone's pant cuff:)...) In addition to it's effectiveness, it is a delight to use - my children are still debating who gets to vacuum a couple of weeks later. (What does that tell you?) Needless to say - another Meile home run. Remember, as my Dad used to say: "When you buy quality, you only cry once!"

I bought this vacuum after reading the reviews on Amazon and have been pleased with it to date. It is definitely infinitely more quiet than my old Hoover and seems to have good pickup. It's also very light and easy to maneuver. My only criticism is that the attachments can't be stored inside of the vacuum but instead click into a rack that attaches to the outside. It invariably falls off as I am vacuuming. My mom's ancient Miele has the "inside storage" feature and it's awesome. Maybe that comes with the more expensive models?

Here is the customer feedback I sent to Miele Corporate. I've had my first Miele vacuum (a S2121 Capri Canister) for one week now. WOW! I absolutely love it. My husband can attest to my perpetual smile when I'm vacuuming. We desperately needed a new vacuum because our baby is on the move--and our Hoover specialized in spitting out rather than sucking in. I had never heard of Miele until I started researching consumer reports. Admittedly, I was a little skeptical that it's as great as everyone raves, but now I'm a total believer, and will recommend it to everyone. I don't sneeze when I vacuum now! Novel idea!! Plus, it's lightweight, QUIET, and great for any job. Thank you for introducing the Capri to the market. It's perfect for our low pile carpet and hard floors. Not only that, but we're pleased with the price. I don't normally take the time to sing praises for my purchases, but frankly, it wouldn't seem right not to let you know what a satisfied customer I am. Thank you!

Purchased the Miele Twist after much research and consumer review. Love the machine. Let me say that I am a vacuum fanatic and use my vacuum at least every other day, and I mean at least (I have 3 kids, 2 dogs, and a dirty backyard). Immediately the power of the vacuum was noted and even though it is a bit heavy on the pull-back, it is BECAUSE of the 2-motor design and so I will take power with weight any day. The carpet looks the best I have seen it in at least a couple of years (animal stains aside) and I think I am almost addicted to running it just to see the carpet plush, full and hear the dirt cyle through the hose (before the kids come home *wink* ). I worried about how it would handle my 15-staircase, but the hose extended to at least 12 stairs quite beautifully and it was not difficult to balance the vacuum while I cleaned the last upper three. Another thing I was curious about was the length of the cord, but again - I have been pleased to note that I can vacuum all of my downstairs from one convientently placed outlet. Speaking of downstairs, I adore how easy it is to shift from carpet to vinyl with just the flip of the switch and it does such a great job cleaning too. But, if you noted I gave it 4-stars vs 5 and you may be wondering why. Well, here are my quirks with the machine. While I love how long the cord is - I do not like how it can not seem to stay wound up on the machine, it falls off loop-by-loop as I move around the room. I plan to amend this annoyance by…

My husband and I are really happy with this purchase. We bought it about three months ago after quite a lot of research. I have always purchased Kenmore vacuums in the past and was tired of replacing them every 4-5 years. I prefer the canister style because it is easy to maneuver. This one is especially lightweight and the red color is nice. We live in a three story house with two stories of wood and one story of carpeting. This model works equally well on both surfaces. We knew we wanted to go with a Miele because of their reputed durability. The parts for this vacuum are quite solid. These are of superior quality to our Kenmores. We didn't go with one of the lower priced models in the range because they didn't seem to have the components we wanted for cleaning our carpets. This was the lowest price model Miele made which works equally well on both smooth and carpeted floors. We did look at the higher end models in the extensive range, but this model seemed quite good when comparing price and features. I really like how all the attachments easily store on the body of the canister so I can quickly change out parts as needed. People have mentioned not liking the short cord. It is shorter than our old vacuums, but I've been okay with it. The light weight of the unit makes it quite easy to carry up and down stairs.

After almost 24 years, my husband and I decided to rid ourselves of the vacuum cleaners we brought to the marrriage. Last year, I bought a huge upright vacuum for heavy cleaning and went through a string of cordless sweepers for day to day operations. None of the latter suited me for heavy cleaning, and they barely functioned on a daily basis after few days of work. Having had a stroke last year I am not as capable as I once was of man-handling a 25-lb or heavier gizmo, and my 76-year old husband, owns a back that "goes out" every time the house needs vacuuming. So, finding the various sweepers insufficient and the upright too heavy, I began to search in earnest for something light-weight that would also perform. I love the Miele vacuum cleaner S 4000: 1/it weighs 11 lbs and I can manipulate it easily; it meets the standards set for vacuum cleaners by Canada and the EU.....environmentally friendly with a fine filtration system, so I don't spend the whole time sneezing; 3/ it is a low energy-usage instrument; 4/ the machine is so quiet, I caught my husband going out the front door while I was vacuuming, and I could hear my cell phone ring and answer it and speak with and hear the caller; 5/ the head is so flexible, it goes this way and that under bird cages and across floors and rugs (I have floor cloths and a few Persian scatter rugs). 6/ the wand snaps upright onto the canister for storage and resting while you stop. Best of all this vacuum sucks like a big upright…

It's a powerful vacuum for sure. And much much quieter then our Kenmore. Fantastic for upholstery and the car. I mean really, really fantastic. And great on carpet. Its biggest weakness is bare floors -- I think the floor attachment is just too big to maintain a really high level of suction. It picks up dirt fine, but not things like Cheerios. And with a three-year-old, that's kind of a problem. I'm guessing another attachment -- the parquet tool or smooth floor tool -- would solve the problem. But I shouldn't have to pay another $60 to get a $500 vacuum to pick of Cheerios. If it came with a bare floor attachment, I'd easily give it 5 stars. As it stands, I'm rounding up from 3.5 stars.
